I left my netbook ...?
A few minutes ago I dropped my MSI Wind. The only visible physical deformity I have noticed is a small bump on the right of the keypad, but aside from that, nothing. It has a mechanical hard disk so the first thing to suffer from a fall that would be. The netbook is compressed if necessary, when happened, but I had it in my backpack that was full of other things too heavy. After all, netbooks are designed to travel! At the moment everything looks good (I'm writing this from the netbook itself) but I wanted to ask if a hard disk failure sometimes occurs later rather than before, when you drop a PC / laptop / netbook? What are the signs that normally looks? The efforts of many to read a disk sector? Loss data? Thanks in advance.
Get a utility that checks the hard disk SMART. See link in my sources for some free utilities to do so. It will display diagnostic information about the unit and can follow it here.
