Another Security Breach At Heathrow...Would ID Cards Have Made Him Think Twice...?

A major security alert is under way at Heathrow airport after a man with a rucksack scaled the perimeter fence and ran into the path of an aircraft.
Eyewitnesses told the BBC armed police surrounded the man on Heathrow's north runway just after 1400 GMT and sniffer dogs were sent in to check the bag.
The Metropolitan Police said a controlled explosion was carried out, but nothing suspicious was found.
A man has been arrested. Some flights have been delayed or cancelled.

No, I don't see how that would have made one iota of difference! He wasn't getting in via any route that required ID, he was scaling the fence!
That's where the whole notion of ID cards falls down - the people who are going to carry them and produce them when requested are not the people who are the problem!
