What is the best thing to wear, eat and drink on Duke of Edinburgh expedition?
We have to walk roughly 10 miles each day, and its a two day expedition, whilst carrying rucksacks which are extremely heavy!
ah...memories of Duke of Ed...
wear tracksuit bottoms,or shorts if the weathers going to be ok, make sure you have good boots- and spare socks!! I wore hoodies and tshirts, usually collared ones. I brought flip flops for when we were camping etc so you didn't have to wear boots.
drink- water, only from running water in streams- not still ones.
bring those little sachets of hot chocolate, they warm you up at meal times. tea bags, if you drink it black. bring a decent size of a water bottle.
eat- on the first day I usually brought real food, ie a ready made stew or whatever from sainsburys, the rest of the time packety things, like pasta and sauce (pasta is light) super noodles if you are into those, cup a soups, for quick lunches I had little pitta pockets and tiny tins of tuna. 'oats so simply' are good for breakfast. dont bring bulky or heavy tins.
You will need chocolate!! at 3am in a cold tent on top of a mountain unable to sleep chocolate is a necessity..
hm what else... biscuits and things... light foods like rivetta, etc raisons, dried apricots and little things like that are good for energy on the move.
hope you have a good time, and good luck!
