as I would use a civil military ruck on a backpack, as they have been used by the military in extreme conditions with little or no problems, where civilians are lighter backpacks and some say they are better than military issued, but where better, the military coup in a chamber work for it and use it (granted there are jobs that are heavier better). What are your thoughts?

Military issue backpacks are designed for something other than what you want to. A military backpack is designed to fit with the burden of personal fulfillment teams ammunition, water, etc. Called respirator straps in the British Army. They feel more comfortable when you have all the equipment on. If you want a decent, proven backpack then see what the Everest and the North Pole guys use. When I was in the army Karrimor used to wear a backpack that was short, squat and sit on top of the straps. It was much more comfortable than the standard edition. It was also very tough wear. The new gear is much more comfortable, but I suspect a decent ruck civilian life would be better for you.
